Re: Top pair with flop action before you in big pot.
When it's 2 more on the turn, it's pretty clear you're behind.

[ QUOTE ]
Hmm I am shocked at the number of raise comments, as I figured the best play here was to fold given my read on SB as what possible range of hands can would he 3-bet preflop knowing he would be out of position the rest of the hand? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think the advice you got to raise the flop was bad. But once it's 2 to you on the turn you have to fold. |

Re: Top pair with flop action before you in big pot.
So we are assuming SB is good. Starting preflop, your raise could look like an isolation raise to him. I think that widen the range of hands for the SB. I'd say AA-99, AK-AJs, AKo, AQo. MP3 is obvious spew so no worries there. If BB is your typical LP he could have a wide range here as well. Axs, any pp, and some suspect suited connectors.
SB could have very well already made up his mind that he was going to lead this flop thinking he can steal it from you. I'm not narrowing his holdings much here. However, BB is scarey. This looks like 2 pair or better. He's reraising the SB with you still to act? That either shows a lot of strength or extreme stupidity if he has something marginal. I don't see much value in raising here. There's nothing to protect and I don't see how it's for value. I'd call and re-evaluate on the turn. |

Wow, looks like I got that one wrong. Raise seems to be the consensus. I wonder what the heck BB was doing?
