I hate racks, but what I hate more is when a player arrives at the table and then throws his rack on the floor after taking his chips out. Great way for somebody to break an ankle.

Better to throw the empty rack at the nit across the table... or the full rack at me.

As long as a) the rack doesn't get in anybody's way, and b) you have a working stack sufficient to cover any bets that may be placed, I see no problem with having racks on the table.
