Great post!
You got to have a good read on your opponent to use this line though. |

What about check/call flop, bet/call turn, bet/fold river?
Yeah this is a good line too...I think. We can't check/raise the flop in this hand. We probably can't bet the flop either, but I'm not totally sure about that. The key to these spots is getting the most out of hands that should fold if you played your hand straight up. If we get into a spewing match we are going to either lose or chop, so we have to avoid that. Getting the most from AQ comes in a DISTANT 2nd from getting something from KK or QQ or TT in this spot. The check/call-bet line will almost always get us a calldown IMHO. If he raises I see no need to do anything else but go limp here. If he is raising with something worse then a pair of aces, he will just fold if we 3-bet so that is out of the question. I'm not sold that he would raise with anything less then AK here either, but I could be wrong about that. I like a check/call on the end with AK if he raises the turn since I can't see KK or QQ making this play often. If we had AJ I would check/raise the river and then throw it in to a 3-bet. Brad |

What about this line:
Bet/Call Bet/Call Check/Call or Bet/Call Check/Call Bet/Call |

I'd cap preflop. Lead the flop and call down when raised on the turn.

I actually thought about taking this approach, and also considered check-raising the turn, but I was worried he might check through a pocket pair. [/ QUOTE ] Don't you think it would be more likely that he bets the turn and checks behind on the river with a pocket pair for a free showdown? |

IMO it looks good. I've seen these people 3-bet with garbage and then lead all the way.

[ QUOTE ]
We raise in say UTG+2 with A K and get a coldcaller who is a reasonable player. He will not just calldown with anything and everything. Flop is HU and comes down A 6 4 I feel like we can make a good case for playing it very slow. [/ QUOTE ] So you're advocating checking the flop HU after being the pf aggressor? I dunno dude, every time I see someone try this against me little 'he's got a monster' alarm bells go off in my head. They're quite often right. Against a reasonable player this seems like it's just as likely to slow him down.. |

Call me crazy but I think this flop play is extremely passive. We've got AKo and we flop our A, so we check/call? then go crazy on the turn (after getting bet into on the flop)? Why is this correct?

I dont get it either. I would cap preflop. Bet every street but if he raises me I go into check call mode.
