In any event, I probably bet this turn the same as you, possibly with the intent of taking a free showdown.

No. You have 2nd pair against bad opponents. You should always be prepared to value bet this on the river.

I'm pretty sure I'm missing river value bets in close situations like this. Maybe I'll try to post some hands where I think it's close.

I'm afraid of an odd check-raise on the turn, but without any proof that this will occur I will bet to protect my hand and fold to a raise.

You peel b/c you have about 5.5 outs mostly to the nuts and your getting 7:1 pot odds plus at least 1 more bet on the turn giving you at least 9:1 implied odds. My only concern is how often the sb checkraises here but given that you were the pfr, I don't think he checkraises this flop too often.

Rest of the hand looks good

Nice hand, sir. I'd peel because SB already showed himself to be loose and passive. You're getting 5.5 outs to the turn, and damn good implied odds, since 4 outs to the nuts, and 1.5 to the second nuts. Plus you may overcards to a pair.

If you said BB is laggish, but can lay down bluffs, I'd consider semibluff raising the flop and sometimes betting the turn.

im surprised none of you have mentioned raising the flop... its an easy raise IMO... as played check the turn like woah... take that freebie/induce a bluff.

I wouldn't say it's easy. If your free card play goes wrong, you're burning money fast. It's not like you have a flush or straight draw.
