The 29.97 is about the best you can expect at 1/2. You'll find the occassional 30+, and the very rare 40+, but they don't last long.

Do it. They are largely the same game. The only difference is that the players are a bit tighter pre-flop. They still play horribly post-flop.

Its been a struggle to find a table where even a third of the hands are rakes these last couple days. I blame the Empire turbo bonus, lots of rocks marathoning all at once instead of over 10 days or a month. I gave up and went to 6-max .5/1, lots of 60%+ VPIPs there.

I find this to be true as well currently. I've been playing recently during the afternoon on Party and have found plenty of loose tables. You just have to be a little patient and look for them. Just open a bunch of tables and data mine them for a 1/2 hour or so and you'll find one you like.

The fish are alive and well(?) at the beginner tables. There they are eaten alive by LAGs, since the few TAGs are like mammals in the age of the dinosaurs, just nibling at the edges, and staying under cover.

Actually I think the beginner tables are bad for the beginners. They seem to lose money much quicker than at normal tables, and they learn bad habits since it is the 60/20/5-guys they see win.
