Will any other countries help? Doubtful.

[/ QUOTE ]

Would you like to place a substantial wager on this? Doubtful.

How much money has the USA spewed on foreign aid with my tax dollars?

Had we saved that money we could fix up N'awlans by ourselves and then all go out for tea.

Death toll rising, people without electricty for up to two months. Contaminated drinking water, massive flooding. Will any other countries help? Doubtful.

[/ QUOTE ]

We really don't need help from other countries so I don't think we should expect it. We should expect other countries to help out more in other parts of the world.

[/ QUOTE ]Sure would be nice if the high-water equipment of the Louisiana National Guard and the NG themselves weren't in Iraq, or $71 million in hurricane preparedness for hadn't just been slashed.

Yet there he is again on TV, trying to look like a hero with that [censored] fake drawl.

In hours, what's the over/under on when he mentions 9/11?

"We are fighting hurricanes here, so we don't have to fight them over there."

As for mentioning 9/11 while discussing hurricane victim aid, would be easy to do: "Just like after 9/11, Americans can be counted on to come to the aid of their fellow citizens in times of catastrophy." Something like that....

assuming that it was only Bill Gates' house destroyed I wouldn't donate. Regardless, this is a stupid point to argue about(really).

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually the point is dead on. But you failed to provide an honest answer with your "if it wasn't an act of god" line. You wouldn't donate to Bill Gates if his house burned down because he's a whole lot richer than you and he has plenty of money to fix his own house. The exact same answer applies to a hurricane in America when viewed by non-Americans.

[/ QUOTE ]what a stretch. So when there is an earthquake in Japan, do non-Japanese people look at that as "just another billionairs house burning down"? I know we in the U.S. don't. For some reason millions of people being displaced and having their homes ruined, as well as dozens of people dying is the same thing as Bill Gate's house burning down, atleast to non-Americans, right?
