These are the kind of boards I would rather induce a bluff on. If I get raised on this turn, I have to let go, I would bet the turn if I had A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The likelihood of getting bluff raised on this turn is high, as they like to represent slowplayed queens (since they would never think you had one) or maybe they feel better about their 4 or 6 with a weak kicker. There might be other situations where the board is extremely similar and I'll bet the turn, but in this particular case it felt a check was better.

If memory serves this would be a good bet in 5/10.

Yeah, what Arkady said. 5/10 is a whole different game. Once you hit 10/20 and above, you start seeing turn check-raises all the time. In 5/10 you can pretty confidently muck, but in higher games there's so much bluffing and semi-bluffing that you'll get run over if you set yourself up for it.

my calculation was that a 3-bet would be a passively played Q or absolutely nothing.

Lets say he is witty enough to assume that I might be raising with nothing, but his nothing is worse than my nothing like K or J high, so would be forced to 3-bet. No? Wishful thinking?

Default Results.

I called.

I won.

Villain showed JT for a failed push out attempt.

The concensus seems to be that raising the river in this case is a good idea. Further calling a 3-bet against unknowns is also a good idea. Yay. Go us.

A bit late on this, but i like the river raise, and the way he played this hand, i definitly call a 3 bet. Well played.
