Anyway, villain limps in EP. Three or so others come along. I tap in the SB w/ J10, BB taps. [/ QUOTE ] what's all this post-flop action, didn't you get it all in preflop? |

Re: Foxwoods 5-5: three-bet river bluff . . .
The way I read the hand I'm fairly confident villain has a boat or quads, and he probably flopped it. My money's on 22/33.
Also, unless villain is on total air ( <10%, I think), he's never folding a hand he's raising with for 1k more. The Doc |

Re: Foxwoods 5-5: three-bet river bluff . . .
You think just a Q puts in this raise on the river? Seems fairly unlikely to be called by many worse hands. MAYYBE AQh or KQh, but he probably raises those PF.

Re: Foxwoods 5-5: three-bet river bluff . . .
heh. well if just a Q raises with a read, maybe he was doing it to induce an all-in 3 bet bluff... brilliant.
in reality it is likely a full house or bluff, that's true... but some people like to slow play on draw heavy boards, i don't quite know how peter plays but aggie says he wouldn't do that... but if you think he would lay down trips in this spot, it can work... i really see it being a fh, likely 999 though. of course i always have trouble putting people exactly on flush draws if i'm holding two of them, which is what he'd have to have. that or 45, i guess. so yeah flip a coin if it's a draw or a boat and go with a physical read. i hope though that if he flips over his boat you flip over your missed draw and start milking your TPTK for all it's worth! =) |

if you think he would lay down trips in this spot, it can work [/ QUOTE ] Not too many hands from EP with a 3. The fold equity of this hand is dramatically increased by the fact that hero is in the blinds, and checked PF. |

Re: Foxwoods 5-5: three-bet river bluff . . .
i've played against peter (albeit not much) and think this is a horrible play. if he had a draw i think he would try for the pot earlier on. nor is he the type of a player who tries a bluff out of the blue just because his draw misses on the river. you potted the flop and he smooth called - c'mon, he has a nice hand here. plus he is a good reader and willing to try and snap off bluffs. he has no reason to be gunning for you, after you just sat down and stacked someone.
i think he's got a made hand and he just decided to sit on it and wow that was a really bad river bluff. however, since you posted it i think you're going to tell us he folds. but this is how the hand looks to me on paper. |
