Re: I know better than this...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] as soon as I clicked "call" I knew I was an idiot. [/ QUOTE ] Uh, why? I mean, aside from the "never slowplay anything" line of thinking, why specifically? If either of them has an OESD, a flush draw or a made straight you're not going to get them to fold to one bet, or even two, short-handed. What alternative line should you have played? Use the FTOP: if BB shows you his KJo (or even J9o) and SB shows you his Ax[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the flop, what are you going to do differently? [/ QUOTE ] Raise for value: ***************************** Board: Qc Ts 8c equity (%) win (%) / tie (%) Hand 1: 59.3231 % [ 00.59 00.00 ] { 8s8d } Hand 2: 16.0922 % [ 00.16 00.00 ] { KJs, KJo } Hand 3: 24.5847 % [ 00.25 00.00 ] { Ac4c } |

Re: I know better than this...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Turn: (4.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets, BB calls, Hero raises, SB calls, BB 3-bets, Hero calls, SB calls. You guys think this is strange action. Here is what is says. SB: I have at least a pair. BB: I am drawing to the strait. (or I made it and I want an overcall) Hero: I beat top pair. SB: I still have a strait draw BB: Just kidding, I have the nut strait. Hero: I can't fold 3 of a kind because I am a dummy and I have outs to a boat. SB: I still have a strait draw. [/ QUOTE ] I don't get it, though. If BB has a monster hand, why did he not raise the turn originally? Why would he assume Hero was going to raise, after Hero just called the flop? [/ QUOTE ] He was trying to get Hero to suck along. BB has KJ and SB has A9 or AJ. Everybody was afraid of the flush on the river although nobody had it. I was going to make a George Strait joke but it's late and I'm tired so it probably wouldn't be funny. |

Raise for value: [/ QUOTE ] Which is certainly what he SHOULD have done. D's tone made it sound like he was being an idiot by staying in the hand. Here's what I love: Board: Qc Ts 8c Dead: equity (%) win (%) / tie (%) Hand 1: 35.6958 % [ 00.36 00.00 ] { 8s8h } Hand 2: 38.0214 % [ 00.38 00.00 ] { Jh9h } Hand 3: 26.2828 % [ 00.26 00.00 ] { Ac4c } Give Villan a MADE STRAIGHT in this hand, and with the 3rd player still in you can still raise for value. |

Ok, you know you should raise the flop. I also think you should cap the turn. I would put you on 40-50% to still have the best hand. Only QQ, TT, KJ or J9 beat you, and QQ would probably have re-raised pre-flop. On top of that you have 10 outs to a boat or quads. You might also want to bet/fold the River, although BB is probably cabpable of a bluff raise. |

I meant I felt like an idiot for not raising my 3 of a kind on a draw heavy board. In fact, is there ever a time to not defaulting to raising 3 of a kind on the flop? |

BB\'s response
Saint_D, you should have raised the flop, but not a big deal.
I just called the SB's bet on the turn, b/c Saint_D likely hit the ace (why else would he raise p/f and just call on the flop?). But calling that bet, I was able to get a huge 3-bet in that I thought was otherwise unlikely. I just checked the river b/c I figured the SB hit the flush, and didn't want to get c/r. Saint_D, there is not much you could have done on the hand. You just got cold decked. |

[ QUOTE ] River: (13.50 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks. SB: I missed my draw. BB: Hero is a little Laggy, lets C/R. Hero: That's not going to work this time. [/ QUOTE ] I understand your reasoning here, and I agree. However, it also sounds a little results-oriented. [/ QUOTE ] Nope, that's pretty much what I was thinking as the cards fell. |
