As you said, this guy can have any 2. If you check the flop, I think chances are big you will be folding the best hand on the turn if he comes out betting. Cause you don't plan to call the turn unimproved if he bets, right?

[/ QUOTE ]
I would raise in this spot.

This might be a stronger bluff than a flop continuation bet, but it's more expensive.

Edit: Do I need to join Maniac's Anonymous?

I thought he should make a bigger turn bet, too, when I read the hand. Then I realized that a pot-sized bet is half his stack.

Others have probably told you but check this turn and call a reasonable bet on the river.

If he bets the turn, yeah, I fold unimproved, but I am not at all sure that means I am folding the best hand here. Of the "any two" this guy could have, there are plenty that beat me if I am unimproved by the turn.

I'm not in love with what I wrote, so i am not insisting anything I said there was right--this was a tough situation and I was not at all sure how I would have handled it. But, yeah, I am at peace with checking behind on the flop and folding to a bet on the turn unimproved with this flop. My thinking is pretty straightforward--any pocket pair likes this flop, right?

I dunno, man. Like I said, maybe I am weak, but this flop is good for a pocket pair, heaven on felt for any hand with a Q and bad for AK. I'm not investing a lot of money here before I improve.

Not having read any of the repsonses

I don't like $20 turn bet. I either ck / raise or make a more more substantial bet. You've got top pair w/ straight draw. I want to put as much pressure on him as possible. Yes, he may have the 3rd queen, but he may very well be on a draw. I think you let me him see the River much too cheaply.

Just MHO...

I'm not saying you're wrong, this is a tough one, but I think you are asking for a push by villain, who probably already senses some weakness from the continuation bet. What is your thinking here?

Everyone who suggests betting the turn, note that a draw is very unlikely here.
