Default Re: Live deep stack $5-10 NL, flopped nuts facing stack re-raise

That last question...I meant checking the flop letting villain bet and just calling his bet to see what happens on the turn. Once again this is after the fact thinking, but as is often the case in this game, a pot sized bet on the flop with the purpose of getting draws to fold does not happen b/c the stacks are so deep and the implied odds are so good.

If I just call the flop bet and a blank comes off on the turn, I can make an overbet/pot bet, if he calls or moves in his odds are much worse here than they were on the flop.

On the flip side, if the 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] comes off like it did, I think can get away w/o losing most of my stack.

think of how much you lose when he has JT and the 7 pairs if you were to wait... or when he has a set and the 9c peels off... you see where this is going, right?

Thanks for all the responses. FWIW, there was no way I was considering folding here. The intent of the original post was maybe to think about different lines of playing this here. I was happy to get all the money in with the current nuts, was a little queasy when I called and he flipped over K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

He turned the 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] for the str8 flush. No big deal, that's poker.

Any opinions on smooth calling the $65 flop bet on a draw heavy board, and moving in/overbetting the pot on a non club turn? I know this is after the fact/results oriented thinking, but is it a better play to make since villain would be making a much bigger mistake moving in in this situation vs on the flop?

Your suggested line is a guaranteed way to make the minimum with the nuts. Rather than putting in money, you're suggesting slowplaying so that you can either a) shut down when one of numerous scare cards hits or b) Make an absurdly big bet on the turn so that nobody puts in money with worse hands.
Get some money in-the times villain sucks out will be made up for by the times you get paid off on the flop.

yeah, good points. thanks for the constructive feedback and pointing out the dangers of slowplaying this. Best line is the one I took.

You are either up against KcQc (you are small dog) or 9c8c (you are big dog) here. I would insta-fold this without much thought at all. You do not make money in Texas Hold'em by putting your whole stack in with the nuts and no redraws. I love playing against guys who are always like "haha, I have the nuts, I will call." Easy money. Guys who know how to make a solid fold when they have the nuts are much tougher opponents.

I laughed at this post at first.

Then I thought about it for a second and thought maybe he's being serious.

Then I re-read this: "You do not make money in Texas Hold'em by putting your whole stack in with the nuts and no redraws."

And started laughing again, and haven't stopped.
