Re: bettin turn after gettin raised on flop bet
[ QUOTE ]
However felt pot was a good size already so doesnt good poker tell us to improve our chances with a second best hand and not havin nut draws all the way around or do you think the amount of outs compensates for this. [/ QUOTE ] We do want to protect our hands in any way that we can. However, the only player you have a chance to drive out is BB. What do you put him on that you think that: a) he's a threat to your hand and b) you can give him improper odds to draw? |

Re: bettin turn after gettin raised on flop bet
just thinkin that gettin bb out increases chance of my eights holdin out. if i miss my draw. With such a weak made hand figured would help out greatly if he would fold. Maybey my thought processes are contradictng im not sure yet. will have to reread this thread later

Maybey my thought processes are contradictng im not sure yet. will have to reread this thread later [/ QUOTE ] I'm not going to say that your wrong, but tell me a likely holding given UTG's flop coldcall that: a) Already beats you -or- b) You currently beat, but could be outdrawn on the river -and- c) He will fold for two bets on the river I think that he's either got a weak J or a flush draw and you can't give improper odds to that hand. In addition given the flop action you are probably behind to button anyways. Having the second best hand is no better than having the third best hand, either way you lose. You are likely playing to your draws. The only hands that threaten your draws are KT and a stronger flush draw. If he has eiher of those hands then the best you can do is offer about 10.25:2 or ~5:1 pot odds which is more than enough to allow him to draw properly. And that is assuming that button is strong enough to rasise you again on the turn, which won't always happen. He could have been trying to push out BB on the flop holding wiffed overs. If he doesn't raise your giving good odds for BB to call holding as little as a 6. I don't think that the small number of times that you are actually ahead and get drawn out against make up for the dead money that ends up in the pot with more opponents. Besides in hands like these I'm confident that the T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] will hit the river and that BB is holding the Ax[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] while button is holding Kx[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Therefore allowing you to make plenty of money on the turn. |

my turn improved my second best hand here so i figured bet to build pot, kick people out and improve ect. [/ QUOTE ] If you kick one person out, your bet no longer has equity. |

Re: bettin turn after gettin raised on flop bet
Just check call the turn. He's probably betting anyway and you don't want to knock the other guy out when you're probably drawing also. A check raise is also no good because we don't have more than 1/3 equity, and button might 3 bet knocking out the other cat.
I like the flop bet if button's a LAG. |

grunch Not a fan of the turn. He's not folding after raising the flop, he'll probably bet at it anyway, and you really don't want a raise here. The only value bet you're getting on the turn is with 2 callers. Edit: I'm also folding this PF. Being able to outplay your opponents won't compensate for this hand's weakness. [/ QUOTE ] AGREED! Also, on the TB, if he raises you, it slimed the field and killed ur drawing odds, I dont like the turn bet... |
