Re: Nice skirt Nancy: SB 67s
My original plan was just to check/call the flop. After the weak action though, I decided to c/r. I might take it right there, and if he called I would lead the turn big and hopefully push him off his hand. If not, maybe the board catches up to me and I hit one of my many outs and scoop a nice pot.
When he 3-bet minraised me, I determined that there was very little FE if I pushed. I think he liked his hand and he was laggy enough to call me with a wide range of hands. At the table, I didn't think the pot was large enough in relation to my stack at that point to push. I guess I was hoping the board caught up to me and so I just called his 3-bet. When I checked the turn, he took awhile to check behind. I felt he was fearing a c/r from me at that point. Because of his delay, I felt he had some kind of made hand and that is why I folded the river. |

Re: Nice skirt Nancy: SB 67s
Why are we just callinig the flop? With such an amount of equity, doesnt Hero make more money the more that goes in the flop. Would someone explain why a checkraise is such a bad play? It scares the hell out of opponents, and can help with free cards, and its not like he doesnt have a boatload of outs when the cr gets called....

Re: Nice skirt Nancy: SB 67s
Then why checkraise?
Edit: And I don't think a checkraise has much folding equity here at all against a thinking player. Nobody plays a set like this. |

Nobody plays a set like this. [/ QUOTE ] If I had 88, I might very well play it this way. If I am in the blinds with a set on a draw heavy board, with multiple limpers behind me, this is one of my lines for a set. Depends on the table of course. |

Re: Nice skirt Nancy: SB 67s
Not trying to hijack your thread but, as I was reading it, a similar hand occurred in one of my games. Villain claimed to have laid down a good queen (which is fine, though I'm a slight favorite against both KQ and AQ).
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $2 Hero (10 handed) converter CO ($165.70) Button ($193) SB ($363.55) Hero ($232.12) UTG ($112.29) UTG+1 ($150.37) UTG+2 ($341.90) MP1 ($124.35) MP2 ($112.80) MP3 ($438.71) Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $2, UTG+2 raises to $6, 6 folds, Hero calls $4, UTG+1 calls $4. Re: Nice skirt Nancy: SB 67s
Are you honestly making a 12$ checkraise into a 6$ pot after one measely 2$ bet w/ 88 here?
