Re: is this a horrible play?
[ QUOTE ]
I agree, a cap on the turn may be bad. I think I still bet the river(he may check with no reads). Can anyone provide odds on flopping 4 of a kind vs. someone having a pocket pair? [/ QUOTE ] I think the odds against floping quads is about 1:8300 (provided you start with an unpaired hand). The odds against being dealt a pocket pair are a bit better than 1:15. This can be a bit misleading, however, because given that the flop IS JJJ, the likelyhood of him having a J is about 0.043, or 1:22. But I also think the fact that he coldcalled preflop should make us more inclined to put him on a pocket pair below QQ. These are some of the hands people coldcall the most with. Sure, he could also have AJs or JTs, but I find it less likely. |

Re: is this a horrible play?
I dont think 1 person in 100 would raise a bet on their right with quads on the flop at .25/.50. I'd get a little to a lot more aggressive.

am i being way too weak? [/ QUOTE ] Yup. Button didn't raise preflop, and didn't cap when it was heads-up on the flop. I'm putting him on AA/KK/Jx about 0% of the time here. 3-bet the turn, lead the river. Don't get tricky with a monster, pound that effer over the head with it. |
