He's not saying that they're better players, he's saying that it is harder to figure out what they're thinking, because they don't have a coherent thought process. Thus, it's hard for him to make reads. [/ QUOTE ] Which is incredibly stupid. |

Despite this, Ed was making a ton of amazing reads with minimal informatiom. Oh. So you mean he wasn't saying that it's harder to beat bad players [/ QUOTE ] If you have to make "amazing reads", yes I'd say he IS saying its harder to beat them. |

Which 'Vic' are referring to here?
Somehow I doubt it's the Grand Victoria in Indiana. Is there a Victoria casino in London?? Is that what he's talking about here? |

If you have to make "amazing reads", yes I'd say he IS saying its harder to beat them. [/ QUOTE ] He doesn't say that you have to make amazing reads anywhere in order to beat them. He says that ebolivia did make good reads. This is not the same thing. KKF - do you think it's easier to interpret the actions of a complete donkey or a middling, average, straightforward ABC player? I think most people would agree that the latter is going to do things more predictably. This doesn't mean that they are worse or have lower expectation than the donkey, necessarily. I'd assume that Justin is talking about the ability to have relatively specific reads, which is harder against opponents who are liable to do things without much thought behind them. This in itself is some form of read, but the details are more vague. On the other end of the spectrum, good players become harder to read again because they mix up their play enough, obviously. I don't really see what's particularly interesting about Zee's statement. It seems like a truism to me. |

[ QUOTE ] If you have to make "amazing reads", yes I'd say he IS saying its harder to beat them. [/ QUOTE ] He doesn't say that you have to make amazing reads anywhere in order to beat them. [/ QUOTE ] If you read between the lines, that is exactly what he is saying. Stop thinking theorectically and start actually applying his words to poker. If you dont have to make reads to beat these players, then why is he even bothering to bring it up? Go to the small stakes forums. Ask them about players who play horible poker, without thinking and they will shrug their shoulders and laugh. You dont need to make reads against these players. You dont beat them by making reads. If they are that horible, they will beat themselves. [ QUOTE ] KKF - do you think it's easier to interpret the actions of a complete donkey or a middling, average, straightforward ABC player? [/ QUOTE ] First off, we need to define the term donkey. I define a donkey as the player who I can make alot of money off of long term. If a player plays ABC and is very easy to run over and read, then I define them as a donkey. Ray Zee (no relation) made a post a few days ago in the HE Forum that basically said that the worst players are the ABC, easy to read players and that alot of the loose aggresive unconventional players are often tough and will give you a headache. However, if you notice, Justin doesnt define the ABC players he can run over as donkeys, but rather the unconventional players who he couldnt read. He even called them degenerates. It is quite posible that these players were over his head. |
