Tannenbaum is probably couching this in a much more skilled game. I think this b/c you say this:

[/ QUOTE ] OK, "many" is an overstatement -- but in our favorite (or second favorite?) 10-20 game, there are at least a handful of players who consider themselves "tricky" that will overplay any ace or high pair (KK/QQ/JJ) here often enough to make a 3-bet a good value bet.
