Oh dear, I'm afraid you give your opponents too much credit. At lower limits you can't put too little emphasis on "image," at least in my experience. Higher up, it becomes a critical part of your game (note that this is whay I'm told, I wouldn't know for myself) but at this level, I don't see your opponent's as being too intensely analytic. Many times I've played 0, 1 or 2 hands all game, only shown AA/KK/QQ/AK, pushed on the bubble and been called by 76, J5, 5T.

What level do the players become better and start noticing more things like that? I am thinking some of my plays I try do not work because of the level I am playing.
