Here's one you don't see much of. Chess author Eric Schiller claimed someone did this against him as a kid:


1. e4 e5
2. Qh5 Ke7
3. Qxe5#

Default 2 move mate

1.g4 e6 2. f4 Qh4 mate.
or
1.f3 e5 2. g4 Qh4mate

couple other sequences exist

One player, rated about 1800 but who had playing for over 30 years, did the following as white against me in a blitz tournament:

1.g4 c6
2.f4 e5
3.f5 Qh4#

After the game he exclaimed "That's the 2nd time I did that!"

2243 on the June list.

I play mostly on Long Island but have played in a lot of the CCA tournaments in this area, and the US Amateur Team, and I've played at the Marshall CC in the city maybe a dozen times over the years.

No more than 1. If there are 2 or more, they'll argue for a month on the best method to scew the bulb in.

Why not? Polgar was making a difficult record simul attempt which is very physically tiring and it would be to her advantage is she could quickly dispose of clueless opponents.
