Default Re: What do I do here with a straight flush draw?

i guess the good news is that even though i lost that hand, i recovered and finished 3rd.

most of the advice i've received has been to keep the pot small...oops!

Fold preflop. With this action call the all-in.

I think a lot of people get carried away with hands like this in general. They automatically assume it is at least a 50/50 hand which is a huge mistake. When you get heavy resistance on a flop like this you have to assume some of your outs are tainted. If you are up against A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] you have a 28% chance of winning this hand. If you are up against Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] you have 41% chance to win.

It is a great draw of course and there is often nothing wrong with getting all the money in on the flop, but these hands are mostly playable when you can see flops cheap so pushing on the flop doesn't gain many chips and they are way too expensive to play later on when taking it down on the flop would be worth something.

dude you have so many out. 9 hearts, 3 queens and 3 7s (not including Qh and 7h). 15 outs is good assuming you ignore poor preflop play.
