I'm gonna hit the mighty Shoreline (Mountain View Muni) this afternoon. Maybe I'll post some pics of this beast.

Ain't it the truth. I dispise Shoreline for this reason. It's unfortunate too because it's a decent layout and they have a great deal on quarterly passes ($300 for 3 months of unlimited Mon-Thurs play I believe).

Default Playing Major Championship courses

I have been lucky enough to play a handfull of "major" courses - including Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, Oakland Hills, Winged Foot, Medinah, Hazeltine, and Black Wolf Run/Wistling Straights. It is always a thrill, and usually a humbling experience, to see how your game stacks up against the toughest courses. It really amplifies how great the PGA players are once you experience similar shots/conditions they encounter.

One round of note I played at Medinah - it was exactly one week prior to the first round of the 1999 PGA that Tiger won. The course just absorbed 3"+ of rain the night before and the rough was up to about 4". I played as good a round of golf as I ever played (carried a 5 handicap at one time) and shot 89. Truely memorable and humbling. My best round(s) on any of these courses were back to back 81s at St. Andrews when the wind was not blowing.
