If nobody takes the initiative I will write a draft after exams are over (next week).

That would be great!

Also, has anyone contacted a moderator about the problem with the search function in this forum?

It is practically impossible to search because so many of the results are blanked out. For the same reason you can't scroll through a good posters old posts. Although many are lazy and don't search anyway It would probably result in less repeat questions as well that may not be covered in the FAQ.

For example I had a AAxx hand I posted a little bit ago where I wasn't sure how much of my stack I am supposed to get in PF to make it worthwile to re-raise OOP. I know I had read about it previously, but couldn't find it so I posted the hand.

Was it Chuck or Mat?

Maybe now that there are all these other User moderators on the other forums we could get in touch with them to help since they are more readily available. At worst if they can't fix it they could have a better chance at getting Mat's attention.

This is needed. The best way of avoiding a FAQ that is subject to opinions that may or may not be correct is to fill it with links to key threads. That way people can follow the arguments for themselves.

The search function is playing up at the moment but when it is working again I'll see about trying to put together something similar to MHNL's Retro threads. Maybe.

beset7 thanks for taking up the challenge. For an excellent template check out andy b's new FAQ on the stud forum.

Before I made the original post I tried to pm Chuck (who is listed as the moderator) and got a message that he doesn't accept pm so I figured no one was actually taking any responsibility.

As far as the search function problems: I have only been here a short while but I have seen some "old timers" reference that this forum may have originally been listed as part of "other poker". If this is true then it needs to go in the FAQ if not true who do we talk to?

Yeah, to do this properly the search function would be very helpful.

There have been some great threads on:

(1) preflop hand selection
(2) preflop raising
(3) book suggestions

That would take care of 90% of the FAQs.
