Re: Bankroll for $200+15 MTT\'s???
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Always try to satellite into the 200+15's. You should be able to win one satellite in less than 10 tries, thus saving you money on the buyins. For Party's Super Monday, I played 8 satellites, won 2nd place in 3 ($38 payout), won my 8th. (I should have won the 7th but my AA lost to 66, and finished 3rd since there was another guy with about 200 chips left) -Matt [/ QUOTE ] Very sound advice. You really should be able to average 1 entry in much less than 9 sats, perhaps 6 or so long run. This cuts down on your BR requirements exponentially. ~Justin [/ QUOTE ] Ya, I've played in two sunday tournies... spent 28 bucks to get there. Got 3rd in a $14 sag which paid nothing, but then I got 1st in a $14 sag and 1st in a 500 FPP 27 person sag. If I can do it, anyone should be able to save money by playing in the satellites. Brad |

I know most top pros do not spend their time on these. It seems that at some point the benefits of these satellites decrease. It is like playing a $9 MTT with $165-215 prizes. I dont play the $2 MTT's for cost/benefit reasons - are the satellites worth the time? I know it will be easier on my bankroll. Oh, yeah - I just found the single table SNG qualifiers - then won two in a row. |

I think the best plan for high level buy in tournaments is to supplement it through sngs or ring games like CSC said, IMO satellites are for the low limit players with dreams of big $$$. |

Re: Bankroll for $200+15 MTT\'s???
I think your $12000 bankroll is too low to play $200 buyin tourney regularly unless you are a super good player.
I think 300 x buy in is a more proper bankroll number. So to play in $200 tourney, you need about 60000 bankroll. Play in satelite games is a waste of time if you have $12000 bankroll. With $12000 bankroll, you can: 1. Drop your buyin level to $40 tourneys or 2. Play in $200 tourney but play in rings game to make up $200 lost in the tourney buy in each day. It is much eassier to win $200 in ring games if you are a good player. |

Re: Bankroll for $200+15 MTT\'s???
I specifically meant $22 satellites for the 200 tournaments. They take like 40 minutes to play. This way you will most likely end up entering the 200+15 for around $50-$100 instead of $200 if you are good at 1 table SNG's.

Re: Bankroll for $200+15 MTT\'s???
My sense of bankroll management may be waaaaaaay off base, but I have found a system that works or me. I maintain a bankroll of no less than $500 dollars by playing ring games (low limit NL games). Any money over my baseline $500, I use to "treat" myself to mtts. I have found that by doing this I am consistently able to enter at least a $10 to $50 entry every day, and when I finish high in these I am able to play several $100 to $250 tournaments before falling back to my $500 threshold. I like this baseline because I get experience in all skill ranges, and have to work on adjusting my play accordingly. You are just as likely to see me playing a $10 freezeout as a $50 rebuy.
Please feel free to comment as to why this is a flawed system, because I feel it suits my interest in learning all aspects of tournament play. Thanks in advance for your responses. |
