[/ QUOTE ] I disagree. In terms of winning the bet, his friend is right. You can't refuse to pay up just because he didn't get it exactly right, that's a dick move.

You'll flop a set 1 - (48/50)*(47/49)*(46/48) = about 0.1176 = 1 out of 8,5 times.

(However, here's a dick move for you OP, I'll give you this first one free of charge:

1 - (47/48)*(46/47) = about 4,2% of these will not be sets, they will be quads. And 3/46 = about 6,5% will be full houses.

About 10,7% of the times you flop a set, you won't flop a set because you flop quads or a full house. This means you'll only flop a set about 1 out of 9.5 times, and therefore his answer is almost as far off as yours.)
