We ended up starting at about 7:15 or so. 33 players, on 4 tables. Only lost about 5 players in the first two levels. Didn't get down to the final table until the 20-40 level.

Finished at about 1:30

[/ QUOTE ]

7:00 – 7:45 $1/$2
7:45 – 8:30 $3/$6
8:45 – 9:30 $5/$10
9:30 – 10:00 $10/$20
10:00 – 10:30 $15/$30
10:30 – 11:00 $20/$40

660 average stack and the tournament lasted until a deal at 1:30? People must play pretty tightly.
11:10 – 11:40 $30/$60, $5 ante
11:40 – 12:00 $40/$80, $5 ante
12:00 – 12:20 $50/$100, $10 ante
12:20 – 12:40 $60/$120, $10 ante

Around this time, you must have had 3-5 players, which means that the average stack was 1300-2200. With over T200 in the pot every time (did blinds continue to go up?) several people weren't playing their stack properly.

How are you thinking about adjusting things, to shorten it some? Easy way is to shorten the rounds to 30 minutes, then 25 or 20.

Yep. Most of the gambooling takes place earlier on. People play slowly, and tightly, which can be frustrating.

Yeah, as I mentioned in a previous post, most of the people there just don't take stack size into consideration. It's not uncommon at all for most people when they're "card dead" to let their stack dwindle down to 4 or 5 BB's.

I kind of like quicksilvre's idea for the early rounds. It's weird, some of the players really, really hate having ante's. I don't know why, because when we play home game stuff like Chicago, or chase the bitch, we use an ante all the time.

I think I will likely continue to fine tune it. There are a lot of factors, like when we start, and the location - for example this tournament was held outside, so trying to wrap it up so we could keep the noise down was a consideration.

The solution to this is easy: don't have antes. Just make the levels a little faster to compensate for having less money in the pot.
