[ QUOTE ]
The severity of pre-flop mistakes are almost always over blown.

In other words, when taken as just this one isolated incident, it can never be a huge pre-flop mistake to make this call from the cutoff, after a raise and 3 cold-callers, with K7s. However, the frequency of even minor pre-flop mistakes especially when combined with poor post-flop play can prove very costly in the long run.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. What distinguishes the bad players is that they will call here, and then call two bets cold on the flop when they hit one diamond. Then call two big bets cold on the turn when they make the idiot end of a gutshot draw (or hit a 7). And then overcall the river with a 7 cause the pot's too big. If you play reasonably well post-flop, playing a little loose pre-flop adds to your variance, but won't hurt (may even help a little) your expectation much.

I give it a 7. safely ok but making calls like this is not gonna make you rich. raising his first 7 out of 10 hands is definitely not a coincidence, and I'm assuming the 3 cold callers don't play so well.

This is a routine fold. K7s is a terrible hand. Wait till you have something before putting in your money. What's the rush?

Assuming the limper calls, you're getting about 5 1/2 to 1 pot odds on your call. If both blinds come in it's 7-1 but they are not in yet so you can't count on that to make your call correct. The chances of flopping a flush draw are a little worse than 8-1. If you flop the flush draw you still only make your flush about 1/2 the time. Occasionally you'll make the flush but lose to the nut flush.
You can't count on your K outs to save the day because you have kicker problems. All this adds up to a fold to me. If you disagree, show me the math. And if you want to talk about implied odds, don't forget to talk about reverse implied odd as well.
