Someone want to tell me what's wrong with raising pre-flop to around 500 or so here? There's 350 in the pot and a raise will likely take it down. If people weren't so afraid to put a raise in pre-flop all the time, they wouldn't be faced with so many hard decisions on the flop.

I agree that hero's stack is too deep to push, but a raise clears things up a lot, and usually it wins a nice pot pre-flop.

And what happens when overs come? You see two-three overs half the time with 77.

Then you actually play poker. If the flop came 2-6-T, I'd still like my 7s. The point is that if you pop it up to 500-550, you're going to take it down most of the time pre-flop. Depends on who calls and what the overs are. Most likely you've got the best hand here and depending on my read of the table, I would often raise here. These aren't Party stacks. You can raise and likely play any flop with position if there are callers.
