I think bet/fold is a mistake. You've got a set of aces on a scary board...the important part of that being that you've got a set of aces. There's a flush and a straight on the board, but there's also aces and queens, jacks and tens, plus sets of queens, jacks and tens.

I go bet/crying call. I think you're giving .5/1 6-max players too much credit.

Looks good to me.
Checking/calling the river looks good to me in this situation. If villain has K you prevent him from raising.
If, on the other hand he was on a flush draw he would have
folded to your bet anyway but you might induce a bluff if you check (although it's unlikely with the board and betting sequence). He might still bet with top pair, two pair (he could very well be holding a hand like AQ, AJ, QJ, AT, JT, TT, JJ, QQ in which case he will certainly bet
but probably not raise the river).

Well I would start off by doing something preflop. Raising is probably good. Apparently the laws of physics or something prevented you from doing so.

Same on the other streets.

AWESOME river check. Given nothing has happened, and there is no pot to win, it makes no sense to bet -- only a better hand will call you. Good think villian apparently dissapeared. Too bad you only took down a 0 bb pot though.

JESUSMOTHERFUCKINGCHRIST! Review yr posts before you hit submit people!

EDIT: Sorry for the means -- had a hell of a day.

Nothing like taking it out on a random micro poster, huh?

As for the hand, I'm in the bet/fold boat here. Plenty of hands will call you here that you beat but would have checked through had you checked. As said before, only a flush or straight is raising you here so it's a safe fold.

i think bet/fold is superior to check/call on this river

a lot of worse hands are calling this river, and nearly no worse hands will bet this river for you

Bet/fold may be the proper river play here but I don't like it and don't ever use it with top set. I hate the thought of trying to maybe finagle one more bet on the river while putting myself in position to lay down the best hand and lose the whole pot.

What if the villain here has JJ? You think he might raise the river? How about AJ? The good thing about the bet/fold line is you guys never know when you threw away a pot so you remain blissfully ignorant (not stupid/ignorant just unknowing/ignorant).

That was my thinking on this. If I bet and get raised, it would kill me to have to lay it down, esp w/ the crazies out there. And, by the way, it was my first hand post so thanks for all the "COMMENTS" on my newbie mistake(LOL) It wont happen again.

I disagree, and not just with this hand. I hate the river bet-fold line in general. Think about it like this: if you check-call with a worse hand, you make a 1 BB error. If you bet-fold a better hand, you make a 10 BB error, or however big the pot was. I prefer to guarantee myself that I never make the 10 BB error, and take the chance that I'm making more frequent 1 BB errors.

I'll check-call here.

Hey Grunch, we agree on something. What time is it so I can mark this down?
