I hear PokerStars is the best competition, but I'm not really sure.

No longer true. Heavy advertising has improved the playing conditions.

huh?

i would would think alot of players in the STT forum would disagree, and say the opposite! (that tourneys have a lower variance than ring games.)

Full Tilt, NL 1/2 and 2/4 blinds. Just wait for good hands and pound them. People will pay you off.

This is especially true if you are as good as the original poster and have NEVER played a tourney without making the money.

Acceptable incomes vary from person to person. To a college student, $25k/year may seem like a lot of spending money. To someone raising a family, $50k/year may be far from sufficient.

If you play online limit hold'em well, you might expect to win about 2-3 BB/100. (Some people may average a bit more. Many people average less, particularly at higher stakes.) At 60 hands per hour, that's 1.2-1.8 BB/table-hour.

If you are a solid winner in online NLHE, you might expect to win 20 PTBB/100 at NL $25 ($10/100), 10 PTBB/100 at NL $100 ($20/100), and 5 PTBB/100 at NL $400 ($40/100). Again, this varies. You can expect to get in about 60 hands per table-hour at a full table, so NL $25 may be worth $6/table hour, NL $100 may be worth $12/table-hour, and NL $400 may be worth $24/table-hour.

SNGs are another possibility. The SNGs on Party are quite different from those on some other sites because of the rapid blind increases. A winning player may have a ROI of up to about 30% in $11-$33 SNGs, winning $3-$10/tournament. In $55-$215 tournaments, lower win rates are expected of good players, and a 20% ROI is good, $11-$43/tournament. Some people estimate that Party SNGs may take about 40 minutes on average. On other sites, higher ROIs are possible, but the tournaments take longer, and it may be harder to play multiple tables.
