Re: If Raymer wins...greatest poker accomplishment ever?
[ QUOTE ]
i say NO. so you would say if he wins 2 in a row........ that is better than helmuths 9? (is that right?) or doyle's 11? or is he better than johny chan? NOT YET. lets see if he is around in 15....20 more years... and still dominating the way these guys have. [/ QUOTE ] Here's the problem with your thoughts. They won against much smaller entries. However, the poster who said heads up with Harrington makes a point that I agree, again b/c Harrington has done it more than 1 or 2x. But they'd both put their stamp forever on poker and their skills. I don't hear even the biggest donkey criticizing Harrington. Why people won't admit Raymer is an excellent player is beyond me, but I won't waste my time trying to convince them. Even if Greg is knocked out with this chip lead early. Good luck to all "sup bros" plunking the $10,000 down and living the dream. |

[/ QUOTE ] There is a difference between Raymer achieving the greatest poker accomplishment ever and being one of the greatest players ever. He do the former without being the latter. Roger Maris has one of the greatest accomplishments in baseball history (his 61 home runs in 1961). But, he isn't even in the baseball Hall of Fame. |

if he won this year, the back to back would be the most impressive feat ever accomplished in poker.
and it wouldn't be close. |

Re: If Raymer wins...greatest poker accomplishment ever?
I don't think Raymer winning 3 straight (or maybe 4) could compare with the accomplishment that was Danny Nguyen winning the WPT Reno event.

Re: If Raymer wins...greatest poker accomplishment ever?
It doesn't matter because he won't win. I might be wrong about the following, but in how many major tournaments has he made the final table since last year's WSOP?

He made the final table once so far this WSOP, and won some event in Londom a few months ago.

If Raymer wins this one I would put him on the same level as Doyle, Chan, Greenstein, Chip Reese, Moss, Ungar, Harrington. Easily. |

The greatest Accomplishment in baseball history I personally believe to be Orel Hershiser's 59 consecutive scoreless innings, but he's not in the top 1000 players IMHO. Sweet, I reply almost exactly like Dynasty, but with a better example. I'm on my game! |
