Re: a8s final table - push or fold?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Nah, the ICM I have only goes to 9 players. I will use a % of total chips * total money paid method [/ QUOTE ] actually you can use that and count 10th as 0. what are you using? i think there were 230 to start. [/ QUOTE ] We could, but how would we account for the chips? % distribution? got it from www.pokersoft.co.uk |

Re: a8s final table - push or fold?
[ QUOTE ]
Easy push. Even on the loosest table you'll pick up the blinds frequently (1/2 to 2/3) . When you do get called you're ~50/50 to double up or go out, since the payoff is very top heavy this is CEV++. [/ QUOTE ] It is mathematically impossible to have a steal be succesful 1/2-2/3 of the time and have 50% equity vs. a call. They work in opposite directions. Also, (I know you understand this, but I dont want to confuse any newbioes) Since the payout is top heavy, it is very +$EV CEV (or TEV) is Tournament chip equity. It is calculated the same way as you calculate EV in a side game. $EV is the amount of real world money you expect to win in a given situation. Many ways to calculate it, none are exact, ICM, and % equity are the most common that I know of. |

Re: a8s final table - push or fold?
And back to the question at hand...
I think this is a push: - You have a suited ace, and the table will be pretty tight as players try to fold their way up the ladder. - You are the table shortee, but still have some good FE. - If the blinds go through you once more your FE will be all but gone against the table big-stacks. But I'm not happy about it: -Five players to act. -If you get called you are likely dominated. I'd prefer the play if I had JTs or QJs - decent cards that were both live if I were called. I'd love to hear other perspectives on the question, "Would you rather push with A8s or JTs?" Best, Sam |
