Is villain REALLY calling with any face? [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yeah, i saw him push A3, A8, A5, QT, and Q9.. Also, I buddied up to him early in the game and he commented on a hand statng that he assumed the short stack was psuhing any two cards and that any ace will do. [/ QUOTE ] What villain is pushing with and calling with are most likely two very different ranges... [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Uh oh. Is your read as solid as you thought? Has villain been actually CALLING with the wide range you thought? Ironically, if you're wrong about his calling standards, I think it makes your move more right. |

[/ QUOTE ] I will push 23o often. I rarely call pushes with 23o. If your only read is that he's pushing trashy hands, you should have pushed. |

Re: Pushing K3o on bubble ??
This is a good point and its prudent advice. But with so much pushing going down someone is bound to bust out within the next 3-6 hands giving their chips to the next guy putting the short stacks (me being one of them) at a huge disadvantage.
"Waiting" is waiting for the right cards when someone else isnt already pushing and I often get caught in this vortex while the blinds swing around. So many people tell me that Im too passive on the bubble and Ive noticed this pattern in my game and so Id like to make the transition to become more aggressive. |

Re: Pushing K3o on bubble ??
Actually I thought he was pushign KJ cus I was multitabling when I replied, if the guys calling range is really huge I'd be somewhat inclined to muck k3.
I still push KJ though |

Re: Pushing K3o on bubble ??
Yes, as I indicated in the original post he calls with these hands. I saw him push with the same but there were a few times he didnt didnt showdown so there is a possibility that he's looser than I thought...
The other players are agressive as well but not as loose. |

Re: Pushing K3o on bubble ??
You either have to get lucky now, or lucky later. If you don't catch a premium hand soon, you'll be all-in with worse cards with less FE. Then everyone will have told you to be aggressive earlier.

[/ QUOTE ] Except he's far from desperate. He's got 8BB if he folds and will have two free hands to play with. Why push a hand that you'll be at best a coinflip if villain is calling 40% of them or so? Your FE isn't exactly sparkling right now. |

Re: Pushing K3o on bubble ??
Just a reminder that what a good player will push with and what he will call with are totally different ranges. Gap Effect in full effect in bubble play.
If your range is correct then it is a fold. But I doubt your range is correct unless he is a good player AND he knows you are pushing many hands. |
