Re: 2000 nl.....(99)....I feel like a pansy?
[ QUOTE ]
Id check raise this to see how much UTG likes his hand, make it like 600. If you lead, hell probably raise on that board and put u on the defensive. If you CR that flop, he calls and u lead turn..hes most likely mucking his overpair. [/ QUOTE ] You think anyone is folding their overpairs on this board? I think that is a huge error in logic. |

Re: 2000 nl.....(99)....I feel like a pansy?
Personally, without a good read or table image as a tectonic plate, I only play on with position in situations typical like this. Any half decent villian will win this hand one way or another with or without the goods.

Re: 2000 nl.....(99)....I feel like a pansy?
this hand completely depends on your opponent. his image, your image, the speed of the game etc.
you are in a very marginal situation and need to make a read, if you have no read, then just fold. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree. There's just too few hands for him to be afraid of and 22 or 66 will often slowplay. In fact this causes problems with a check raise whatever he has because he could just decide you can't take any heat. The only way a check raise puts a reasonably tenacious opponent in difficulty is if he's worried about button. |

Re: 2000 nl.....(99)....I feel like a pansy?
After thinking about this hand, i agree that an overpair would prolly call the lead on turn. But i still think CR'ing that flop is correct. I apologize for my over aggression.

Re: 2000 nl.....(99)....I feel like a pansy?
You are ahead more than 50% here. Call the flop, if he checks the turn, bet something like half pot that stops his 6 out draw.

Re: 2000 nl.....(99)....I feel like a pansy?
I don't play anywhere near this high, but I think c/c flop, c/f turn can be a very good line. You snap off continuation bets, and most people won't fire two barrels with a worse hand. Often, people won't even fire two barrels with a better hand fearing a c/r and trying to manage pot size.

Re: 2000 nl.....(99)....I feel like a pansy?
Not to be a nit, but you're in possition so "c/f" the turn makes no sense. Other than that I 100% agree with your post, including, what I assume you mean, to folding if he bets the turn.
