Default Get a job!

If you're at $2500 and thinking of going pro maybe you should go to school THEN get a job.

Thank you very much for the advice. I think I will build my bankroll by playing 10-20 two or three nights a week. I dodn't have any stats published but I will keep them on record for any possible backers. Look forward to seeing some of you at the tables. indy

You have $2,500 and you are going to build a bankroll playing 10/20? You are taking on a pretty big risk of going broke with only 125 big bets. I suggest you read Mason's Gambling Theory and Other Topics before deciding to go pro.

its amazing how you guys use the books these guys write as the bible. I play 5-10 with kill omaha 8 or better and and 5-10 to 10-20 holdem. I started about 8 months ago playing full time and my best week is $2100 and worst was $250 profit. I am averaging $1200 a week in cash playing 30-40 hrs a week. Can i play higher limits? maybe? but why when the action is so hot at my levels and im making a living playing this silly game. The best advice i have if you want to play poker for a living is treat it as a job. Dont take your profits and blow it at the craps table.
good luck

Report back in another eight months if you're still averaging 2-4 big bets an hour. Sheesh.

I wouldn't want to start playing professionally with a 125 BB bankroll. Assuming a 1 BB/hr win rate and 10 BB/hr standard deviation, you have a risk of ruin of 8%. I wouldn't want to turn pro knowing that I have a 1/12 chance of going bust.

big bet small bet all that stuff is great if you are playing 30-60 or higher. At 5-10 limits its ALL about the players. I play down at AC where every tourist that wants to play poker sits down and has 100 tells and will hesitate making a call on river unless they haave the NUTs and even then they wont make you pay to see it. On a saturday there is at least 1500 at my table, to divide up among peoople who have common sense. All i want to do is get 1/3 of that in a 10 hour shift. I am going to clear 60,000 profit in 9 months at the end of Feb with little ability to lose. Even on a bad month ( hasnt happend yet) my loss can only be 2700 thats losing every session for a month str8. I think this is the way to go. I believe im a top 10 percentile of better poker players, and i play against the 20 percentile of worst poker players how can you go wrong.

Seriously, you have never had a losing week? Ever?

I'd love some details on that data. Like how long have you played, what time period do those numbers cover etc.

You know the whole story.

Sincerely,
AA

Umm... how long have you been playing... and how long of a period of not having a losing session are you claiming?

Sincerely,
AA
