Re: Doyle going for 10th bracelet
[ QUOTE ]
"You can come to my funeral," Doyle Brunson said shockingly. "I can't keep playing fifteen, sixteen hour days." Texas Dolly turned the heat on everyone. He wanted to either keep playing straight through or come back tomorrow. ESPN executiive producer David Schwartz was called in. As was the tourament director Johnny Grooms. A compromise was reached that Doyle accepted. Instead of a two or two and a half hour break for interviews and camera setup, we were to start in one hour and twenty minutes. "I have to find a place to lay down," Doyle said. [/ QUOTE ] From Paulle's blog. Really, between ESPN's goofy TV taping schedule and the decisions being made to extend tournaments extra days seemingly on a whim due to poor pre-planning are making it feel like no one at the Rio knows what the hell they are doing this year above the poker room floor level. It's a joke that they've got 3 final tables running at the exact same time. [/endrant] Scotty/Doyle HU or Doyle/Flack, which one would be better? |

[ QUOTE ]
Date / Time: 2005-06-30 22:36:00 Title: Doyle Brunson takes the Chip Lead Log: <b>Hand 16</b> - Doyle Brunson has the button in seat 2, Nguyen raises to $20,000, Brunson calls, and Flack calls. The flop comes Kd-Js-8c, Flack bets $45,000, Nguyen folds, and Brunson calls. The turn card pairs the board with the 8d, Flack bets $45,000 again, and Brunson calls again. The river card is the 7d, Flack checks, Brunson bets $70,000, and Flack calls. Brunson shows As-8s (trip eights), and Flack shows K-J (two pair). Brunson wins the pot. Doyle Brunson has just taken over the chip lead in his hunt for his record-tying tenth World Series of Poker bracelet. [/ QUOTE ] Flack could have damn near anything on the flop. Once Nguyen drops there's 105k in the pot (+ whatever blinds and antes) and Doyle's getting better than 2-1 on his call. NOT seeeing a turn there getting 2-1 against Flack's range of hands would probably be a mistake. |

Title: Doyle Brunson Doubles Through Layne Flack Into the Chip Lead Log: Hand 96 - Doyle Brunson has the button in seat 2, he raises to $40,000, Minh Ly reraises to $130,000, and Brunson folds. Hand 97 - Minh Ly has the button in seat 3, and everyone folds to Nguyen in the big blind, giving him the blinds and antes. Hand 98 - Layne Flack has the button in seat 4, Flack raises to $50,000, Brunson reraises to $150,000, Flack immediately moves all in, and Brunson pauses for a few moments before calling all in for $307,000. Flack shows Ac-Qd, and Brunson has pocket kings (Kd-Ks). The flop comes Kc-Jd-6d, and Brunson has flopped top set to take a commanding lead, but Flack has a gut-shot straight draw if he can catch a ten (four outs). The turn card is the 2c, the river card is the Js, and Doyle Brunson makes a full house (kings full of jacks) to double up into a commanding chip lead. |

Re: Doyle going for 10th bracelet
Hand 106 - Layne Flack has the button in seat 4, Ly raises to $36,000, and Brunson moves all in. Minh Ly stops to think if he wants to risk elimination with four players left at a time when Flack is riding a very short stack. Minh Ly folds, giving the pot to Doyle Brunson.
This is the second time that Brunson has gone all in against Minh Ly while Layne Flack is extremely short stacked. Brunson has the only chip stack larger than Minh Ly's. yeah, he's still got a few tricks left |

Title: Layne Flack Eliminated in 4th Place ($99,030) Log: Hand 120 - Doyle Brunson has the button in seat 2, Brunson raises to $40,000, Ly calls, and Flack calls. The flop comes 10c-9h-3s, Ly checks, Flack moves all in for $62,000, Brunson calls, and Ly folds. Flack shows Kc-10d (pair of tens), while Brunson has Kd-9c (pair of nines). Brunson needs to catch a nine to eliminate Flack. The turn card is the 9d, and Brunson makes trip nines to take the lead. Flack needs to catch a ten (2 outs) to stay alive. The river card is the 5c, and Layne Flack is eliminated in fourth place, earning $99,030. The next player eliminated will receive $106,105 for third place. |
