This is quite lame of 2+2, to say the least. But I have to say, Der Roland Schnitzle had me freakin out with laughter.

We have received a complaint from 2+2 Publishing re your usage of their
name, 2+2, in the tournament name and lobby message for tournament
9317995. That is not cool.

ahhh, the "that is not cool" defense. I tried that in court the other day. It didn't go over so well.

It's not copyright issues..it's potential legality issues. They don't want it to seem like they are sponsoring or operating or working with an online gaming site. The issue has been addressed on the Internet forum when other people have done this. I agree a PM would have been more polite.

IANAL, but it's my understanding that you can lose your trademark if you don't protect it.

I don't think dilution is a factor here since we are not using the word 2+2 to refer to any particular poker books. Afterall, Nike can't just willy nilly prevent anyone from mentioning their name anywhere for any reason; they can only do it when someone snaps the word Nike on shoes, clothing, and the like.
