Wrong. This hand is good.

Preflop raise is golden IMHO. Raising 3BB in early position usually gets a lot of respect. It is quite likely to get the hand now and sets you up for a continuation bet very well.

There are two schools of thought on a big draw. One is to be the first to get all your money in and thus have a +$EV situation because you have FE combined with a good chance of winning. The other is to get odds on your draw which means your opponent is making a mistake. I'm not sure which line is better.

If you are going to try and get your money in, you have to lead out here and hope to get reraised. This may help you get your money in first and it also may get you the pot right then.

If you are going for a cheap draw, then you obviously should just call the 50.

I think if you don't lead out, you should just call. (edit: that's given that he just bets 50)

The way the hand did go down, you have a lot of outs and are getting good odds on the call.

Firstly, I do think a standard continuation bet is the smartest idea at the blind level. If it were at 50/100 I think a check-raise would be more suitable due to the pot size but I saw the str8 flush draw and checked without thinking.

Well, I think that after he min bet I should have just called. I checked with the intention of pushing if he put puts out a standard sized raise. However, I was so hell bent on check-raising but I felt like I couldn't dump my stack into a pot that small so I just bet the pot back at him. I mean after he pushes the call was easy but I really did not expect that.

Sometimes I feel like I have a hand entirely played out in my mind before I actually play it and if the villain does something superbly bizarre I miss out on the most optimal decision.

Only one way to learn though.

thanks for the responses

I don't mind this. Sure it got a bit crazy there on the flop but I would call this. Hope you got a giant stack and unleashed your fury on the table.

I'd lead at this flop something like 90 percent of the time and come over the top all in to a raise. Given that you checked and he min bet I think a call is in order you can't fire all in without drastically overbetting. I'd hate to be a in a spot like you are now. I'd likely call and pray. Royal Flushes are awsome.

Bet you wish you had just called his flop bet.

Let's pretend you had AKo here. Would you just call the flop bet?

Well it wouldn't be a total disaster if he didn't pay you off, seeing as you're getting 8.5:1 immediate odds on his flop bet.

Am I the only jackass who auto-folds this preflop?

EDIT: Didn't notice it was with deeper stacks.

I auto-fold this at Party with 800 starting chips.

On PP with 800, I'm with you. This is Stars, however.

I'd fold preflop. However, I would have made a 1/2 pot continuation bet. It looks like he'd have come back over the top at me. At that point I'd be very tempted to fold - I hate chasing flushes & your A out may be no good.
