Checking a JJxx holding here could often be a better play than betting out. Top set on a 2-flush, 2-low board is above average but certainly not a strong hand.

Basically, JJ is likely to have a small +EV now, but waiting until the turn lets you make a decision when your hand is either much stronger or much weaker and gains some deceptive value.

How to play it depends on opponents, table, and mixing your frequency of play up.
