Re: Kurn
I play more limit than NL. About a 60/40 split.
are you saying you NEVER make an -EV play in order to take a stab at a pot vs a guy who is bullying? I don't know if I understand your question, since I definitely factor fold equity into my judgment of EV. I may learn after the fact that the play I made was -EV against the specific hand my opponent held, but if my judgment of the range of hands was reasonable, then it was +EV in my mind at the time I made the play. Besides, it's usually me doing the bullying. |

I guess I'm a total robot. When I finish the session, both feel precisely identical. When I play poker, I check my emotions at the door. [/ QUOTE ] Jerk. |

Re: Which is worse?
this is the dumbest question ever
of course it feel worse to start good and end mediocre this is like saying "which is better: meeting a really hot chick and getting blown off and [censored] a prostitute, or meeting a really ugly chick and blowing her off and [censored] a prostitute?" polltard |

Re: Which is worse?
I sincerely hate being down early and clambering out of it. It isn't about the story I tell after, or tell myself, its just that I'd prefer to have lost back 'someone else's money' then fight to get my own back all night.
really its all the same and i'm results oriented and i know that, but if you're asking which is worse, I choose the side that few else did. |

Re: Which is worse?
This reminds me of a story I heard in a psychology book somewhere.
A guy is staying in Vegas with his wife, and on his last night there, he finds a $5 chip under the dresser in his hotel room. His wife is taking a shower, so he heads down to the casino, and on a whim he plays roulette, betting the chip on 22. Remarkably, he hits his number, and now he has $180. He decides to let it ride, and incredibly 22 comes up again! He now has $6000 or so, and he figures why not let it ride again. Against all the odds 22 hits again and the guy has nearly a quarter million dollars on the table. A crowd is gathered around, all looking at him, and he decides to give it one last shot. Of course, this time it comes up 17 and he loses it all. He goes back up to the hotel room, and his wife has stepped out of the shower. "Honey, how'd you do?" she asks. "Not too bad," he says, "I lost five bucks." There was a moral to the story, but I forgot it. |

Re: Which is worse?
I know the answer to this question seems obvious (to most anyway) and I am sure there is some social psychological research behind this principle, yet (embarrassingly) I can't remember what it is. I am sure it has something to do with receny effects. One thing I do want to point out though is that often in scientific research, the answer that seems obvious (esp. in retrospect) still has strong merits, and many times answers tend to be contrary to the obvious. When I find the classic social psych. study on this I will post it.
