I think you are putting to much stock in a 31 hand read for 3 betting.

Heck - I had a V$P of 24% last night in 130 hands and I average in the 16% range. I would look like a LAG. LOL

I think the hands looks good and he hit his flush, but ya gotta call on the river BUT - that could be yet another leak since him raising almost certainly tells you he has better the top pair.

[/ QUOTE ]

i think this is a clear 3-bet. even without any knowledge about the button a 3-bet is clearly the best play. i am very tight myself but i would raise with many hands on the button that are weaker than AQo.

At what point do you NOT 3-bet with AQo. Granted - against 1 player I can see it. but 2? 3? 4?.

Just curious!

Is that standard to 3 bet AQ offsuit out of position?

[/ QUOTE ] I think it is not a big mistake to 3-bet with lots of hands you are going to play in the SB facing a button raise. Calling here is not too different from cold-calling. Buttons range of hands is sufficiently large that I would rather be against just him than against him BB and the limper. (And if I have reason to believe that his range is not that big, then I have no problem laying AQo down in the SB in a 3/6 game.)

Regarding putting in a third bet, what difference does it make that you are not closing the action? Against many combinations of button and BB, I will just call here, and lead the flop.

Having players left to act makes you want to 3-bet more.

If you did just call pre-flop, why wouldn't you go for the check-raise on the flop?

1- Depends upon the players.

Checkraise: you're right.

Certainly. I'm just saying that against any given set of players, I am more likely to 3-bet here than I would be if it went raise, call, call, and I was closing the action in the BB with AQo. I'm not saying I wouldn't 3-bet in that case and I am not saying I'd always 3-bet here.

I lead the flop here planning to stop'n'go if raised. I don't want to force MP2 out since we are very likely way ahead of him on this flop.
