Re: Should I be calling this? Seemed like a hard decision...
I've lost a little confidence lately, but I'm playing this hand completely different post flop.
With position and a fold around to me, I'm betting 2/3 the pot and see what action I get. You probably take it down right there. A check raise says trip jacks or the boat and you gotta lay it down. With a smooth call, we see the turn gives our nut flush. The all in bet tells me he probably wants to try and take it down right there. I'm calling his trip jacks or weak flush. If he has the boat....that's poker. Like I said, I've lost confidence lately, so my play may smell fishy as well. |

[ QUOTE ]
This just about never means a boat. You will see the K spade here sometimes. People are monkeys like this with weak hands -- they try to get value out of a full house. [/ QUOTE ] I don't have enough experience in tournaments to have recognized this off the bat. Thing is, I had used a play very similar to this 2 hands prior that got me to big stack on table. I had 44, flopped a set, turned bottom full house. River came a third diamond, and I pushed about t650 into a t900 pot and busted a guy who made a nut flush draw. My flop check was retarded. |

You've heard this from basically everybody, but...
Call already! I'd really like to know what card you'd like to have seen to allow you not to fold here. |

Re: Should I be calling this? Seemed like a hard decision...
You need to call no question about it. You have the best possible flush and the short stack most likely was afraid his trips would be ruined by another spade. There is always the chance he really does have the full boat, but as the other posters have so succinctly put it, "thats poker."

Re: Should I be calling this? Seemed like a hard decision...
You've got the nut flush. JJ, 33, 66, J6, and J3 all make boats. JJ would have been raised preflop, J6 and J3 all don't seem likely. 33 might be a possibility. 66 is probably the main concern. First ask, "Why did he overbet the pot all in?" He seems unexperienced, which makes him very hard to read. Inxeperienced people do like to play like they see on the WPT, and would probably raise 66. But this also reopens the door on J6 or J3 (probably suited). Honestly, I am astounded at such an all in. But, with a made flush, and having him covered, with still a nice stack left, I would say, "go for it!" Remember you can't wait for EVERYTHING to be in your favor to pick up chips in a no limit tournament. Anyway, I hope this helps.
