They have an uncanny ability to read people
They have balls of steel and can make a move with any two cards if they think it has pos expectation
They can push small edges and make money on marginal hands that cost most players money

people skills

I never would have thought that would be very important. Care to explain how people skills will make a person a better poker player?

I think people skills are quite important. If you make the fish comfortable and they're having a good time, they're more apt to play longer with you and will actually "enjoy" losing to you. Most of the fish on the table are generally rich people who are just playing poker for the fun of it, and if they arent having fun, i.e. theyre sitting at a table where every one keeps berating them for their play...they'll just take their business elsewhere.
I for one thing make sure I am very polite to every1 at the table, that way the fish get in more hands against me.
It also helps keep me in a good mood after bad beats.
This is more applicable to live poker than online though.

Complete?

1. Discipline
2. Hand Reading ability
3. Balls of Steel
4. A TV friendly gimmick
5. Teaching ability.

Complete doesn't mean best - obviously Stu Ungar only had 2 of these..

On the one hand, I think if you have good people skills, you tend to be much more perceptive about what other people are thinking -- perhaps based on their behavior and body language. This is beneficial for poker playing.

On the other hand, there are plenty of top players who don't exactly seem to be very easy to get along with. But, I would venture to guess that many of these players are quite aware of how their behavior affects their opponents.

So, if by people skills you mean "charismatic politician" I don't necessarily agree. But if you mean "keenly perceptive about other people" then I definitely agree.
