Wouldnt they spend more money in a day in blinds then they would get in comps? [/ QUOTE ] THey spend money for their entertainment. It isn't really the comps they want, it is something for them to DO instead of sitting at home waiting to die. A lot of small daytime games feature players that would sit and talk and not play any poker if they had a way to get the 8 other players to sit around a table and talk to them. |

Re: Something for nothing....the nads some people have.
I will be in Vegas next weekend. I fully expect you to comp all my meals for the 6 days I am in town. If I like the food then I will consider playing a couple hands in your poker room. 2-4 only though.

Re: Something for nothing....the nads some people have.
[ QUOTE ]
It occured to me I could be homeless, play some poker, and drink all night for free if I was at the Mirage - In fact, I don't understand how any decent 2+2'er could even have a bar tab - simply grab a rack of blue, sit down, play uber tight at 1/2 NL, and drink the free whiskeys.... [/ QUOTE ] Anyone who sits down with a rack of blue ($1 chips) at 1/2 NL should be flogged, and then promptly kicked in the nuts. I had some douchebag do this at Wynn the first and only time I played there. Then he'd procede to count them one at a time. Dealer and I look at each other and the dealer says "man you're killing this table with them blues" (meaning it was taking forever to play a hand). Considering this guy was a calling station, it was an every hand thing. The guy says "but blue is lucky for me". I wanted to smack the dumb schmuck. woops, went off on a tangent there!!! thread hijacking is immenant! |

Re: Something for nothing....the nads some people have.
[ QUOTE ]
While working the floor last night, a guy I have never seen before comes walking in, beelines toward me and rudely says "If you comp me dinner I'll get in that game." While feeling like I'm getting blackmailed I say "Well, we comp players depending on how long they play...". He interrupts and says he wants dinner comped immediately. Annoyed, I say "I can't do that." He mills around for 10 minutes or so and walks out. [/ QUOTE ] In my experience, dealers who have just been promoted to floormen have very poor people skills. I think it's because dealers put up with so much sht from the players. Unfortunately, people skill is probably the most important skill for any floorman to have. The thing you have to remember is that the card players and gamblers are customers and thus demand a bit of ass kissing respect on your part. It's not clear to me why you were annoyed when the customer asked to get his meal comped. He probably pays alot of money to play at the casino. He was asking for a deal and you are the one in charge of deals. He made an offer. You can accept or decline and it's your job to do make that decision AND be nice to the customer. I really don't understand why you felt blackmailed. Did he threaten your family or something? |
