he was talking from Villain's POV. i said that Villain should check behind with a one or two pair hand.

I wouldn't and I consider myself decent, I would bet half the pot, fold to a check raise, and hopefully just check behind on the river if he calls then checks the river : )

if you have, say T9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or AT[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], then betting here would be awful. you have a decent, showdown worthy hand, but you're giving your opponent a chance to check-raise bluff you off.

there's no reason to bet for protection since the flush draw got there...your best interest at that point should be keeping the pot small and seeing showdown.
