Phil Gordon had a review of it -

nice pictures and paper, doesn't look like much new strategically... or something to that effect.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought they were talking about the Chan book but no Gordon was talking about Barry's book, I do find it strange though since Barry has repeatedly promised one thing and Gordon saying that he didn't come though on that promise.
I guess we will see but I will take Barry at his word. Gordon review sounds a whole lot like he could have been talking about his own book. Nice enough but nothing new.

"No new strategic advice."
"Worth it for the pictures alone."

I'm kind of disappointed, but we'll see.

Im still holding out hope. Somehow Im doubting gordon either read it or went through the whole things besides just flipping through it. Everywhere else Ive heard good things.

I cancelled my amazon pre-order. I will wait for someone else to take the bullet and give some reviews (and for me to flip through it in a book store). Glossy paper and full color pics of Barry G isn't exactly what I was looking for, it looks more like a coffee table book. I truely hope it is a good book, but I'll save my money until I can flip through it before buying.

I don't think you could call Gordon's comments a true "review". It sounded more like initial impressions, since he was looking at it while in the middle of a tourney.

That kind of what I was thinking, but to say:

"No new strategic advice."
"Worth it for the pictures alone."

Would kind of seem insulting. From what Ive heard the book is a group of essays, and with Hand quizzes, examples...etc.

I know Tuan Le credits the book as helping him win those tournies. I think he read an advanced copy a few days before....but I dont know if thats a good review to go by, from what Ive heard that pretty much the only poker books hes read.

Maybe the book has Talismic qualities, enabling players like Tuan after touching it to win hands no matter how far behind pre-or-post flop

Maybe there's been some heavy editing before the final draft went to print.

You guys still buying?

Anybody move to a waiting list? (waiting for reviews I mean)

--By the way, that book looks huge, Ted Forrest is a midget in comparison. Its clearly tops the size of a coffetable art book.
