In defense of the original poster, the following is from www.babynames.com...

[ QUOTE ]
AVIVA
Gender: Female
Meaning: Joyful Spring
Origin: Hebrew

[/ QUOTE ]

So apparently it is a name.

[/ QUOTE ]

What do you think the odds are the girl's parents got it from a baby name book by those same people? Given that they're the only people that have ever heard of the name, I think the odds are pretty high.

This is a pretty good thread. Let's make up more names...

Quonesha
Tamika
Pagamy (which can also be spelled with an i)
Plumboboli
Piggomotmola
Amzika

[/ QUOTE ]

I have known 2 or 3 tamika's .. but I agree it is basically a made up name...your name is tammy dammit you are not special enough to have a name made up just for you... I also worked with an ONdrea,, I used to piss her off by calling her Andrea all the time

Probably, I just though I'd give Blackjack a little credit.

But lets just assume that Aviva and Elika are real names (I know it's a stretch but go with me), does anybody actually find these names pretty?? I like Ashley, and Laura is pretty too, but those first two are not.

That site also has special sections for "spooky names", "Tolkien names", and "Soap Opera names". Apparently we're also supposed to buy that Banshee, Farmer Maggot, and Slick are acceptable names so I think its credibility can be called into question.

If I had a boy, I'd name him Anderson and call him Ender just like Ender's Game.

Your kid is in for a long childhood of having his lunch money stolen daily.

[ QUOTE ]
Anderson is a fat kid with glasses who eats paste. You're not gonna name the kid Anderson. You gotta give him a real name. Give him a name! Like Nick. Yeah, Nick! Nick's the kinda guy you can trust. Nick's your buddy. Nick's the kinda guy you drink beers with. The kinda guy that doesn't care if you puke in his car. Nick! ...oh, excuse me, vomit.

[/ QUOTE ]

(o.k. so it wasn't "Anderson" in the original quote. But it still works.)
