People posted their winnings charts last week in the micro forum last week and one thing that stuck out was that a LOT of people were having some serious swings when moving from .5/1 to 1/2. The 1/2 is usually about the same or tighter than .5/1, but the players are a little better postflop. You might jump right in and start winning, but be prepared to change your game a tiny bit. Those 10BB pots you see all the time at .5/1 are nowhere near as common in the 1/2's. Plus the rake is more costly. Give it a shot and keep reading your books.

I don't know why I thought you wanted to move up to .5/1. But yea, the move up to 1/2 is one you should make when you feel comfortable w/ your skills. Its the first jump that should have nothing to do with you bankroll. Finish SSH, get a bunch more hands in at .5/1.

You have enough BR to move up to 1/2. I have a smaller BR and 4 table 1/2. My only advice is that in my experience 1/2 is alot looser during the afternoon (Party). Also when I moved up I got crushed and couldn't understand why. Ends up I just hit a swing about the time I moved up. If you aren't comfortable with the bigger pots sizes you might want to just hang out in .5/1 a while longer, if not have at it!!!1 [/ QUOTE ] A very similar thing happened to me. I am crushing the .5/1 game, but when I moved to 1/2, I am down about 100BB over my entire 3K hands at that level. When I get killed at 1/2, I move back down to .5/1 and start winning again. I'm hopeing it's not because I suck, as many people have said 1/2 and .5/1 are pretty much the same game. It might be psychological as well, but I've just gotta work through it. |

One thing I did that helped me a little bit was sitting down at the 25NL 6-max tables. It really helped me to be really tight aggressive (not that I wasn't b4 but after that I got down pat). After about 2-3k at the NL tables my 1/2 game just went out of the roof. That might not help you but it did help me. PS 25NL 6-max = fish pool, swim freely my friend.

When I moved from .5/1 to 1/2 I also went thru an immediate downswing. But it was very short lived and it prepared me for the move up to 3/6. Just started the move to 5/ 10 this week and know the feeling of moving up. Looks like your BR can handle it so Id say go for it and if you get killed you can always move back down to make the proper adjustments.

I like to move up once I reach 300BB's for the limit.
If you play on Party, notice this... 1/2 has 6 max tables and alot of the LAGS like shorthanded tables, so the full rings tend to have more rock gardens than the 2/4 IMO. I'd play one table of .5/1 and one table of 1/2 until I had enough to take a crack at the 2/4. |

Take a shot if you have not already done so.
If you lose 100 or 200 bucks, you can always move back down and grind that out at .5/1 limit. |
