Re: I\'m calling down with AK
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] MP1 capping pf means he has AK or a big pair. If he has TT or AA I'm drawing pretty much dead. If he has AK, JJ or QQ I'm drawing to six clean outs for a win or chop. [/ QUOTE ] This could be all well and good but you fail to mention the BB. You think he's calling down with ace-high too? [/ QUOTE ] ding ding. If your calling down with AK, you want to be doing it HU. Sarge[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] edit: Looking back - I would say your best chance (and cheapest) would be a flop raise to knock out BB. -- If he calls your raise on the flop, I think it's easier to get away from this hand instead of calling it down. |

Re: I\'m calling down with AK
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Thanks guys. My obvious mistake (which everyone has pointed out) is me forgetting about BB. I tend to forget about the third player in hands like this, I'm afraid. It's about time I plug that leak. [/ QUOTE ] I think the less obvious mistake is that you stated this [ QUOTE ] No reads on villains. I have played for about one orbit. [/ QUOTE ] in your OP and then stated this [ QUOTE ] MP1 capping pf means he has AK or a big pair. [/ QUOTE ] . How are you so sure of his hand range when you don't have a read? [/ QUOTE ] I worded it poorly in my OP. It should have been "...very likely to have..." or something like that. I didn't have a specific read on MP1, but during my short time at the table I had not noticed anyone doing anything donkish. 2-4 players to flop, lots of raising with solid hands pf. Not a very good table, obviously. At a table like that I think making an assumption of possible hands like that is correct way more often than not. /twang |
