I thought last year that Phil couldn't play any better - now he was off his game?

You know what's mosty annoying of all? The fact that Hellmuth seems to feel like it's necessary to act like he's so important that he cannot even begin the exit interview in a dignified manner.

The (admittedly awful) poor little interview guy is standing there with his little microphone, thinking they had started, and Hellmuth has to continue a conversation off to the side.

Nothing is straightforward. Everything serves some childish emotion. In this case, it's the "Look how important I am" emotion.

I don't dislike the guy as much as everyone else around here, but he sure is annoying. He just canNOT muster up any sort of dignity or grace whatsoever. It's so buffoonish.

I wonder how many of us would trade our less grating personality for whatever poker talent it is that Hellmuth has that makes him so successful.

I'm not really sure.

I'm not really sure either, and, uh, not to be rude or anything, but what the hell does that have to do with anything?

I always try to be reasonable, particularly as it pertains to those who are ALWAYS getting beat up on these boards, but let's call a spade a spade: this guy has some serious maturity and/or psychological issues, and it's tough to watch.

This is not an unreasonable observation or statement.

I mean, it was just a tangent. I wasn't trying to take a jab at anyone or anything. It was just an idle thought.

Fair enough.

I think my response came from watching Phil Hellmuth and Terrell Owens and Allen Iverson and Russell Crowe and Bobby Fischer and Michael Jackson all get treated like legitimate human beings by the media simply because they possessed some random skill that made them entertaining.

When really, they're all just emotionally unstable people who you really wouldn't even want to invite into your home.

Not sure how u can compare phil hellmuth to the oters on your list? Seems not very well thought out to compare an over emotional pokerplayer to a possible child molester..nba and nfl thugs,,an insane chess player, and crowe? Not sure about the last one...arod4276

In some sense that makes them more interesting... plus a lot of what they are all doing is an act.
