I tried to formulate a response that wasn't derogatory or condescending, but I failed miserably. That answer was possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Wha?

What about a raise makes you think your hand suffers from reverse implied odds.. kinda paranoid don't you think?

Sure you are going to be beaten by a better flush sometimes, but this hand has fantastic implied odds. If you hit your draw, this is a fantastic flop for you, you have pot odds, and implied odds to see the river. I think your implied odds are greater because someone raised. They are not going to give up the pot easily and will be more likely to pay you off when you hit.

This entire hand felt fishy. Did I go wrong somewhere?

[/ QUOTE ]

No. I like how you played this hand. Maybe value-cap pre-flop.

[ QUOTE ]

I got trapped here. But I have 13 outs or so....

[/ QUOTE ]
You are 4:1 to hit a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] so the pot is still laying attractive odds here.

Rivered the nuts....Try to get tricky and check raise or just bet?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nah, this is a very scary card. I'd bet out, just as you did. This guy isn't going anywhere, but he might not bet the river for you.

nh.

I think this is picture perfect. I've begun to realize the pre-flop decisions like this have everything to do with your comfort level in play from the flop on. Those that advocate folding simply don't have confidence in themselves in playing after the flop with marginal hand, whether they like to admit it or not.

IMO, that is by far the closest decision in the hand.

My main concern with capping is that it will lose UTG a much larger percentage of the time than when we just call the 3-bet.

You mean UTG 1? with the nice high cards out there, if he has an Ace, I doubt he folds.
