1) The statement "Good Food" and the word Buffet in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

2) This thread should begin and end at the Wynn. Period. They have accumulated some of the best restaurateurs around, but its not cheep.

the house wine that they bring in a gallon jug is great

Now WHY was it great, because it was great wine, or because they brought it in a gallon jug?

hey if you're german please do explain the whole "ziggy high ziggy high hoi hoi hoi" thing. while i hold up my stein and yell it out with the crowd, it seems kinda foreign to this red blooded american who was born from the union of when white met bread...

it's sure funny when they do it on "the man show" tho.

also, there's a lot of debate but they are all wrong, the dark beer at hoffbrau is the best.

theres a small italian place just off the strip behind the flamingo that is excellent, I can't remember the name of it, but the house wine that they bring in a gallon jug is great.

You're thinking of Batista's Hole in the Wall. It's a tourist trap. I wouldn't go there if I wanted good Italian food, but I have been there multiple times for the cheap (free w/ dinner) wine.

I'll chime in with two gourmet recommendations.

My new favorite restaurant in Vegas is n9ne. It's the "steakhouse" at the Palms. It's not really much of a steakhouse actually. It has an uber-trendy vibe that's almost too much to handle. It has one of those atmosphere's that says "Hey, I'm too cool for you" -- But the food is unbelievable. Simply delicious. Expect to spend more than $100 per person.

For less pricey gourmet in Vegas I recommend Pampelmoose (it means "grapefruit" in French). It is located behind the Sahara in an old house. The food and service are excellent. Here's the website: http://www.pamplemousserestaurant.com

Try Ristorante del Fiori in San Remo

$5.95 prime rib dinner or prime rib and egg breakfast -- each served 24/7

Downtown Redwood Bar and Grill has a 16 oz Porterhouse for $15 or so

Gold Coast has a 16 oz T Bone with lots of sides for $11 or so.

Hard Rock -- Steak and Shrimp $10 ish Mr. Lucky's (maybe a bit less) ask for it, it's not on the menu

I think the Circus Circus Buffet is still under $10

Capriottis -- has the biggest subs you'll ever see.

Monte Carlo Pub Brewery -- Good ribs/pizza/micro brews and it's cheap

I don't know whether any of this is "good" food, but it's cheap, and will help you gain the weight you want to, and veggie lovers generally need not apply.

Go to the Bellagio lunch buffet midweek (monday to thursday before 4pm). It is a bargin for $17. Great food and almost the same as the dinner. It is definately better than what you would get at any restraunt for the same money.

Mandalay Bay lunch buffet is very good also for $15. I have not been to the Wynn buffett but it is probably good.

Rio buffet has gone downhill, avoid. Don't even think about CircusCircus or the HoleInTheWall
